Minced Meat Casserole

For this weeks Chopped Challenge I had to create a nice dish with: Mushroom, cheese, bacon and soy sauce. As I personally do not have a wide selection of food that I enjoy, getting these ingredients was a challenge by itself. I’m not a big mushroom and soy sauce fan for example. Therefore I had to be clever with my ingredients, which in my case was: get a lot of meat and cheese involved! So without further ado, here is my bacon and cheese (with a bit of mushroom and soy sauce) recipe!

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1 sachet of mashed potatoes (a la minute)
  • 300 g minced meat
  • 200 g bacon strips
  • 1,5 onion
  • 1/2 box mushrooms
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1/2 bag of grated cheese
  • salt and pepper

 

PREPARATION:

cut the onion, cut the mushrooms and preheat the oven on 200 c.

 

STEPS:

Step 1: bake the onion and minced meat for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Add the bacon, garlic, mushrooms and soy sauce and bake and stir them for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add a bit of salt and pepper for the taste and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
Step 4: Make the mashed potatoes by adding boiling water to the mix.
Step 5: Place the minced meat mixture in the baking dish and put the mashed potatoes over it. Add a bit (or a lot) of grated cheese on top of it all.
Step 6: Bake for 18 minutes on 200 c in the oven.

Et voila! Your dish is done!
